Julia’s House celebrates a decade of caring for Dorset children and the club’s relationship with the charity goes back almost as long!
“I obviously knew all about Julia’s House, when I took over as Captain for this year. Or so I thought, yet I had my eyes really opened to depth and breadth of the work that they do in the Dorset Community when I visited the Hospice a for a tour back in March. The parents of the life-limited children talk about how Julia’s House ‘wraps it’s arms around the whole family’. Over 90% of the funds they need, £3.4 million this year, come from people and clubs like ours. So let’s have a great year and in particular make our Captain’s Day one of the best ever in celebration of the decade of care that Julia’s House has provided!” Allan Hutchins, Club Captain 2013
In 2013 it is 10 years since the very first Dorset family received care in their own home from a Julia’s House nurse.
Today, the Dorset Children’s Hospice, is still leading the field in community care. No other children’s hospice in the UK offers the level of home-based support which Julia’s House families receive.
This care gives our families precious time. Time to spend with their other children, their partners – or simply just time to do those everyday tasks that the rest of us take for granted.
Julia’s House currently cares for around 100 Dorset children a year. With your help we continue to reach even more and deliver more support and services.
“Being close by has meant that the members have really grown to understand what we do and how they can support us. It has become an ongoing and special relationship that has resulted in over £30,000 being raised by the club. ” Lin Hudswell, Community Fundraising Manager at Julia’s House tells us.
