Prize Giving - Friday 27th February 2015

A great night was had by all at the prizewinners for 2014 were congratulated at the annual prize giving. After a lovely meal, where the attendees were entertained by magician Greg Williamson, the prizes were presented by Club Captain Graham Wilkin, ably assisted by Vice Captain James St. Quintin.

Thanks to Keith Rawlings who again took the photographs and members can view a gallery of these by clicking here.

The Year So Far

Our social events had made a good start to the year. We have had 2 successful quiz evenings and the Frank Sinatra night.

Both quizzes’ were well attended with surprisingly more attending the Tuesday night quiz compared to the Friday night quiz. Is the membership telling us something?

The Frank Sinatra night was attended by nearly 60 members and guests. Whilst the numbers were a little on the low side on this event, those that did attend thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Paul Holgate aka Frank Sinatra ( for the night was fantastic

It is always difficult to estimate how many are going to attend an event. I spent 13 years professionally trying to do this at Lighthouse in Poole and frequently got it wrong. From the clubs viewpoint if all those that attended enjoyed the event then it has been a success.

I am still trying to find support for an ‘Oasis’ night but my research amongst members indicates that ticket sales would be much lower than for Frank Sinatra!

If you have any ideas for a social event please contact Allan Hutchins, Kate Roberts, James St Quintin or myself.

Our social and fun programme for the remainder of the year is still being developed but will include the following events:

  • Green Keepers Revenge. 9 hole competition with food and prizes. Pins placed in some interesting positions! DATE Friday 27th June
  • Boat trip. A repeat of the popular booze cruise with fish and chip supper.
  • Summer Party/BBQ. We are in discussion with 2 quite unique entertainers and will bring details as soon as possible.
  • pig racing night. Again a repeat of the hugely successful night we held in 2013.

In the meanwhile please see below some photographs taken at the Frank Sinatra Night.
