Broadstone Golf Club receives Golfmark “Higher Achiever” award
Over the last few years the Club has been working towards achieving Golfmark status, this is an award given by England Golf to golf clubs that meet levels set for Junior golf coaching and participation. Further on from the standard Golfmark accreditation is the “Higher Achiever” award this is awarded to golf clubs that have put in place good practices to maximise Junior participation in Golf. Broadstone have achieved the “Higher Achiever” accreditation thanks to the hard work of our Head Professional Neil Rowlands and his staff and also with some help from Val & Tracy in the office preparing the documentation. Much of the early groundwork for the standard Golfmark award started a couple of years ago was undertaken by Bill Kent, its Bill’s excellent work that was the platform for Neil and the others to build on, culminating in Broadstone receiving this award.
The award is not only an accreditation, it also sees the Club gain access to some very valuable funding from England Golf & Sport England which will go towards junior coaching and development at the Club.
The Club will be presented with the award at a date to be fixed by Dee Wood who is the responsible officer for the Dorset Golf County Partnership.
I hope this will be the platform led by Neil Rowlands (PGA Professional) to produce some young ‘scratch golfers’, something we used to do regularly.
I am going to put my name forward to help with the junior section organisation and it would be great if other members could come forward to assist. If you are interested please see David Morgan or Neil Rowlands.
The Junior Section are the future life blood of the club and it would be nice to see them as a real force in the County and South West, just for starters!
So even if you have a little time or indeed a son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter please bring them along to get involved in some great coaching at the club and a strong and vibrant section.
Chris Dennis (Club Chairman)
