The Club compete annually in both a home and away fixture v Millfield School. This is a long standing fixture and the away match took place on Wednesday 11 September at the wonderful Burnham & Berrow links.

The school is largely regarded as the No 1 sports school in the UK. Most of the school team are planning to spend their next 4 years at an American Golf University. It was pleasing to note that they hold the fixture with Broadstone in very high regard. Given that they only play against premier clubs and include Wentworth club amongst their fixtures, this is high praise for Broadstone.

The Vice – Captain took a strong team up the M5 including professional Neil Rowland and assistant professional Andy Helby. For once the match was not played in 25 mph winds and the links played gently.

The match is played off ‘scratch’. Given that most of the boys from the school and Jemmima (2 h/c) were off scratch or very low handicaps, it was always going to be tough for Broadstone. Another excellent win was achieved by Ashley Beckett and David Morgan, plus a highly creditable half from Rob Atherton and Chris Dearsley were the highlights in a match lost 2 ½ to 1 ½.
