NEWS ROUND UP

The News Round Up Returns!

Now we are back into the playing season, this news round up will help you keep up to date with latest results of competitions, matches and events at the club.

A quick reminder of how it normally works - I will be sending out a review of the previous weeks results, (Monday - Sunday) so when I send an update out and haven’t included something that happened the previous day, don’t panic, it will be along the following week. Please also forgive me now if I miss the occasional match or event, I will endeavour to get all the results from all the captains in time, but it doesn't always happen.

The round up will also include a look ahead to forthcoming events and competitions and sometimes a photograph of the week, if I receive one worth sharing that is!

There will also be the occasional stop press item that I will include in here to save sending out a separate email......

***STOP PRESS***

Those visiting the club over the weekend will see some ongoing work around the putting green. We have had a minor water leak for some time, that was spotted a few weeks ago and this work is part of the ongoing investigation by contractors to try and find out where the problem is. Apologies for the mess and the eyesore, work will continue next week.

Results

Through the week/month!

Over the last couple of weeks, despite the bad weather, two competitions have reached their conclusion.

In the Sugden Bowl, Gordon Ross extended his unbeaten run in club knockouts by beating Linsay Bray in the final.

In the Frank Cup Final, Oliver Chappell and Ash Colloff secured a 2&1 victory over Paul Vincent & Nick Plank.

This news update will be much fuller over the coming week with results of various matches and competitions, however, in part weather related, these have not really go going as yet.

One match that has taken place is the Hardy B Cup match where Graham Cockram's side comfortably reached the next round with a good win over Queens Park.

Good luck to the Hardy A side who take on Isle of Purbeck at home in a re-arranged fixture on Sunday 15th April.

On Saturday 24th March, we had a brief rain free window for the foursomes Guest Cup and congratulations to Paul Vincent and Russel Whitcomb who secured the trophy with an excellent nett 64. Second place went to Jim Robertson and Shaun Gossage with 67.5 with in form pair Nick Plank and Ian Broom two shots further back in third.

I won't go back through all of the medals and stablefords through the last month as to be quite honest, there haven't been that many playing in many of them, but congratulations to Carolyne Weldon for winning the Sturton Cup earlier in the month.

The drive in's for Dave Shenton, the Club Captain and Ladies Captain Anne Tyler, both went well, although sadly the competition on Sunday 18th March was lost due to snow.
