Just a little update from what I have been up too in the past weeks.
For the month of February I have been over in Phoenix, Arizona working on my game and trying to get out of the winter months. I had a fantastic trip and really felt my game progressed as the weeks went on with my best round being a bogey free 64(-8). I have just got back and started to play in some local professional events, mainly on the Jamega Tour but have some TP Tour events coming up this month.
My first event was March 5th and was my first day as a professional golfer and was a challenge to say the least. I played 18 holes at High Post Golf Club in the Jamega Tour winter series. It was a sunny day but bitterly cold with a north-westerly wind at around about 20-25 mph. Made golf a little tricky but battled my way round in 70 (Even par) which left me tied for first. A great way to start my professional career.
March 8th I had my second event as a professional at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club. Was up at 5 in the morning and got up to the course around 8.30 for a look around the course. Was a cold start to the day but got warmer as the day progressed. I struggled out on the course, never really got a yardage down and seemed to be a little short or long all day.
The greens were… ok, made it tough to get a round going. I managed to shoot 70(-1) and was a round of two halves. Went out in 2 over and managed to battle back in 3 under for the back nine. I finished in a tie for third place and can’t grumble as I didn’t bring my best game to the course today.
I played at Studley Wood on March 12th and was not my best day on the course, struggled off the tee and didn’t really see many fairways so made it tough to be aggressive to the pins. I also had a three 3 putts today, which was very unlike me. Missing some very short putts to save par which was rather frustrating but it is that time of year where you can miss them and not put a bad stroke on it. Struggled to a 3 over 76. But have another event of Friday at Denham Golf Club so looking forward to playing well there and getting back on track.
I will be posting my results on my website each week, so if you would like to follow my progress check out the website www.lukejoygolf.com
