Through the week.

On Tuesday 28th, the Seniors took on Barton on Sea away and suffered a heavy defeat so we will move swiftly on!

On Wednesday 29th, the Junior Club Championships took place with some excellent scoring. The two main trophy winners were Alex Johnston who won the 36 hole scratch prize with scores of 72 and 70 and Sienna Birch with nett scores of 65 & 63 to take the nett title.

The main winners at the Junior Championships, Alex Johnston and Sienna Birch are pictured with their trophies, presented by Club Captain Dave Shenton.

There were many other very good performances with many many scores in the nett 60’s, too many to list here, but well done to all players, we cartainly have an excellent crop of young golfers at present. Also on Wednesday, the Midweek Medal took place where Keith Richards achieved the best score with a nett 69, good enough to win Division Two by 5 shots from 4 players who had 74’s. Jonathan Moore won Division One with a nett 72, one shot clear of Pat Michael and 2 clear of four more players with 74’s, clearly a popular score on that day!

On Thursday 30th, the Ladies Stableford saw Carol Cass in a return to form with an excellent 39 points. Lesley Muddiman had the second best score of 37 points, with Pat Alexander 3rd with 36. In the afternoon, the Seniors took on Seniors v Rowlands Castle at home and won 5-1.

On Saturday 1st September, the Medal & Fire Officers Salver took place with Neil Irish having the best score and winning the Fire Officers Salver with a nett 67. Ian Pitchforth and Simon Willis also had nett 67’s and finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in Division One whilst in Division Two, Martin Clarke won with a nett 68, the same score as Steve Morris who finished 2nd and Mike Ross was in 3rd with a nett 70.

BECKFORD GOLD MEDAL UPDATE - Following this medal, the latest Beckford Gold Medal standings can be seen by clicking here. A reminder that these results will be concluded by adding the best score from either the early October Medal or late October 'Beckford' Medal.

On Sunday 2nd, the South West Women’s Championships took place at Broadstone with many Broadstone members talking part in the 36 hole event. The event was a great success with fine weather throughout and some excellent scores, including the winning scratch score of 143 (70 & 73) from Gloucestershire golfer Alex Saunders and also, many Broadstone golfers who did the club proud. I will be honest, I struggled to understand exactly who won what at the prizegiving with so many prizes awarded and at the time of writing this report, I don’t have the full details published elsewhere as yet, but I do know prizes were won by Sienna Birch, Megan Walker, Di Freda and Louise Burke. Well done to all involved. Also on Sunday, the Hardy A team suffered an away defeat at Knighton Heath and in the Club Stableford, Charles Crabb had the best score with 41 points, with Neil Duffy 2nd with 39.
